Listen–I want to run all my life, screaming at the top of my lungs. Let all of life be an unfettered howl. Like the crowd greeting the gladiator. Don’t stop to think, don’t interrupt the scream, exhale, release life’s rapture. Everything is blooming. Everything is flying. Everything is screaming, choking on its screams. Laughter. Running. Let-down hair. That is all there is to life. – Vladimir Nabokov
A few years ago, I read Vladimir Nabokov’s story “Gods” and found myself not knowing if I wanted to laugh, cry, or squeal. The phrase “Everything is Blooming” inspired me to make a constant effort to find the beauty in every moment of life. At the risk of sounding cliche, I’ll go ahead and state the obvious: Life can be crazy, difficult, depressing, exciting, hilarious, and overwhelming – often all in the same day. Instead of taking everything so seriously and keeping this all in my head, I decided to start sharing my experience with others. It’s since turned into a habit of publicly displaying my complete lack of perfection.
So join in and laugh with me because really, what else is there to life but laughter, running, and let-down hair?
